Summer Activities for Seniors

At Thorek Retirement Home, we offer a robust calendar of events daily at our facility. No matter your interests, you are sure to find something each week on our calendar that you will enjoy with your fellow residents. But in the Summer, we encourage our residents to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.

Our beautiful Heritage Garden right on site offers the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine surrounded by a gorgeous garden. And our ideal location on the Andersonville / Ravenswood border gives our residents easy access to the best shopping and restaurants around. Plus we are a short ride from the beautiful lakefront.

How Can Being Outdoors Benefit Seniors?

Being outdoors can benefit both your mental and physical health. Spending time in nature, without the distraction of electronics, can have long-term benefits on your mental health. It can boost cognitive thinking and creativity and improve your ability to focus. And anytime you are out walking or gardening, you are benefiting your physical health as well!

Being outside and getting fresh air is good for the soul and improves your mood.
